Google for "කා", and it'll find many place using "කා" on the web. If the "කා" we are using now is incorrect, how could this happen?
I don't care if the "කා" I am typing is a single character or a combination of "ක" and "ා" as long as it makes me to see a "කා" in the end.
And, tell me, who the hell told you letters like "කා", "ගා", "ජා" are single letters instead of a letter combined with a "පිල්ලම"?
"I don't care if the "කා" I am typing is a single character or a combination of "ක" and "ා" as long as it makes me to see a "කා" in the end. "
You can key in using any method BUT the end "ka" need a value and registered in the unicode data base with a proper value
"කා" or "ගා", "ජා" have no unicode data base value or SLSI values Therefore you cannot use these characters in computer across any application or in any operating systems like the Latin script
DO NOT MIX the key in methods and characters (AKURU)
Quote from unicode Unicode provides a unique number for every character, no matter what the platform, no matter what the program, no matter what the language.

The Akuru came to the computer from the printing industry If you visit a press and see the letter press akuru you can see all these are individual characters. In monotype it iwas the same. BIT when it beace a typewriter Wijesekera designed his system with olympia Germany and came out with his key board. Computer can use any keyboard. BIT the addressing character "AKURA" need to be given a value and publish this value
How you write or how you key in in not a issue here
For a computer to use any AKURA in any language needs a proper value in the National standard. Without these values you cannot use sinhala across all platforms or across any applications. This is the issue. see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49bd-IymDcs

So, we should follow all the methods that those old print industries followed, ha?
[said:Donald Gaminitillake ] How you write or how you key in in not a issue here [/said] Yeah, it is not. Who've told it is?
From that, I meant that, even when we write Sinhala letters by hand, we don't take "කා" as a single letter, it is a letter combined with a pillama. Then why we should make it a single letter.
Not only in Sinhala Unicode, for an example, this is the same in Hindi (Or Devanagari letter system.).
The Hindi, the letter "ක" is "क" and "කා" is "का". And it is also not a single letter. "का" = "क"+"ा".
Then, if you wish to make "කා" a single letter, you got to make "का" a single letter too!
Binku, Donald is not a good marketing example to follow. He uses the guerrilla marketing style. When he attacks, he attacks hard and there is no customer to buy his product because all of them are attacked in his marketing campaign.

I think you know nothing about any languages
"කා" nees a value in the SLSI 1134 and in the unicode data base for you to use "කා" in a computer across all platforms and on any appliocation,
That is the basic of UNICODE DATA BASE
Latin script "i" is written as a line and a dot It is complete character In sinhala too all are individual characters with storkes or glyphs

Will you please answer to this?
"And, tell me, who the hell told you letters like "කා", "ගා", "ජා" are single letters instead of a letter combined with a "පිල්ලම"?"
Why can't we type "ක" first and "ා" then?
Supun, this {"ා"} itself sows there is something wrong with ICTA Unicode. Why can't u simply type the pilla without the 'O' here?
@Anonymous December 17, 2009 5:02 AM:
Becouse the pilla "ා" is meant to be used combined with another letter.

All indic languages have this problem not registering the cahracters in the unicode data base or in the national standard
Please do not mix uo the input system
You input "ක" and "ා" but a diffent software that is hidden show the "KA" which is incorrect
the unicode database value for "ක" is
UTF-8 HEX VALUE : : : : : 0xE0B69A
UTF-16 HEX VALUE: : : : : 0x0D9A
UTF-32 HEX VALUE: : : : : 0x00000D9A
Likewise there is no value for "කා" in unicode database or in SLSI1134
therefore same string will show two different characters see my you tube image
Yes in devanagari script "क" has UTF-8 HEX VALUE : : : : : 0xE0A495
UTF-16 HEX VALUE: : : : : 0x0915
UTF-32 HEX VALUE: : : : : 0x00000915
But "का" has no value in the unicode database
They too have the same problem
All indic group have to be exit from unicode database and derive its own identity as Donalds Code

Donald,
Why do always put a signature for each comment? Are you marketing your self in others blogs too?
Great Plan! Mahinda and Sarath Should follow you too! :P
That is my way!
IF Sarath or Mahinda contacts me I have lot of data to be given to them.
Whoever contact me first will get the information. He who will win the election.
